Frankfurt Motor Display two thousand seventeen preview: dates, fresh cars and latest news

The two thousand seventeen Frankfurt Motor Demonstrate is set to inflame an explosive period on the international fresh car stage. It’s been relatively quiet since Lord March cleared the empty bottles from the Goodwood Festival of Speed after party, but now automotive nuts have many things to get excited about as the big manufacturers prepare to showcase their latest wares.

The Frankfurt Motor Display doors will open two days early for the press to get a head begin on all that fresh and shiney metal. Dates-wise, the very first press day is on September twelve with the showcase eventually opening to the public on Saturday sixteen then running to Sunday 24. Tickets are available from the official website priced from fourteen euro for weekends.

Much like advent calendars at christmas, the run up to the 67th IAA (International Automobile-Ausstellung) seems to be bringing us fresh delights every day. We’ve recently been treated to previews of the fresh two thousand eighteen Bentley Continental GT the two thousand eighteen Dacia Duster , and the two thousand eighteen Porsche Cayenne and there’ll be much more over the coming days. This year’s tour to Frankfurt promises to be one to recall.

It will be especially memorable for those who like the best German car manufacturers have to suggest. Being held in their own back yard, the Frankfurt showcase presents big names such as VW , BMW , Mercedes and Audi to rival head-to-head for the limelight. As an example of just how big these manufacturers go, Mercedes is reportedly displaying one hundred cars at the display, it will be a good chance for fans to see everything the big German marques are presently working on.

Despite (and possibly because of) all this German largesse, there will be some notable absences from the list of manufacturers at Frankfurt. Peugeot , Nissan , Fiat , Chrysler , and Jeep are all MIA, hopefully meaning they are saving big things for the Tokyo Motor Showcase later in the year or Geneva 2018.

Even however the German marques are expected to predominate, there will be an eclectic range of amazing fresh cars to love from a big multiplicity of brands and we’ll be bringing you all the act right here. Below we’ve created a summary of what you can look forward to at Frankfurt 2017.

  • What’s at the Frankfurt Motor Demonstrate 2017? A to Z

All the key fresh cars coming to the Frankfurt Motor Showcase this year, listed alphabetically.

It should come as no surprise that Audi has a big debut or two at its home market display. The most notable car on display will be the all-new A8 luxury limo, boasting a raft of fresh technology and autonomous features, plus mild hybrid powertrains. It’ll be the very first public outing of the Mercedes S-Class rival.

Two fresh Audi RS models will be taking to the stage at Frankfurt and a fresh RS5 Sportback looks set to be one of them. Expect the same 444bhp Two.9 litre V6 from the coupe, but with all the added practicality of the Sportback assets.

Could the RS4 Avant be the other? We’re still waiting to find out.

    Bentley

Bentley (yet another brand to fall under German ownership), is eyeing up even more success following that of the Bentayga SUV. The third generation Bentley Continental GT is being marketed as the sportiest of the sports tourers produced by the rock hard to date.

With the headline engine, a revised 6.0-litre W12, pumping out 626bhp and a seismic 900Nm of torque, the big Bentley does certainly sound like it has the potential to perform.

BMW – another home market carmaker – will have slew on display at Frankfurt this year. The fresh six Series Gran Turismo will make its very first public outing, while we’re also expecting to see the production version of the i8 Spyder drop-top hybrid sports car drawing in the crowds.

Paramours of luxury SUVs will be catered for by the debut of of a concept version of the seven-seat X7 too, while the fresh X3 will make its public debut in the metal. A fresh special edition seven Series celebrating forty years of the rock-hard’s luxury limo is also poised for its debut.

Ultimately, the rigid’s latest supersaloon will be exposed in the metal for the very first time – the fresh 592bhp M5 is coming to Frankfurt for our very first look at the fresh Mercedes-AMG E sixty three S rival.

    Borgward

Borgward is heading for a comeback to the European market following a 56-year absence.

Presently, the rigid only offers SUVs to the Chinese market, but it has been taunting the fact that that at this year’s IAA, it could be exposing a sleek coupe.

    Chery

Chery is coming all the way to Frankfurt from China, and will pull the covers off an as yet unnamed SUV destined for the European market. Details are slender, but a handful of teaser pics hint at the car’s styling, and it’ll be built on a brand fresh platform. Further down the line, the state-owned rigid plans to have a range of hybrid and electrified vehicles on sale in Europe too.

    Citroen

    • Citroen C3 Aircross

    • Citroen Spacetourer Rip Curl Concept

Citroen, unlike its fellow Frenchmen from PSA, are planning reasonably big for Frankfurt this year. From the World Rally Championship edition of its C3, to the funky-looking fresh C3 Aircross and on to a 4×4 version of the people carrying Spacetourer, there is a broad range of cars for you to get excited about.

The C3 Aircross, billed as a Nissan Juke rivalling crossover, is substituting the old C3 Picasso and is to be priced from £13,995 when released this November.

    Dacia

Dacia is planning to expose a fresh Duster SUV for 2018, substituting the current model which has been on sale in Britain since 2012. Details are still lean on the ground, but spy shots suggest that the fresh Duster will usher in an evolutionary look rather than an all-new design. It’ll be a five-seat model too – rumours of a seven-seat ‘Grand Duster’ are now dead in the water.

    Ferrari

Ferrari will be exposing the Portofino at Frankfurt this year, its entry-level convertible GT car to substitute the California T. The term ‘entry-level’ is a little misleading, however, as underneath the bonnet it has a Trio.9-litre turbocharged V8 engine producing 592bhp. The resulting standstill to 62mph time is just Trio.5s, and it will keep on galloping all the way to 199mph.

    Honda

    • Honda Jazz facelift

While Honda may not be on track to steal all the headlines in Germany the Japanese rock-hard is not turning up empty passed. Embarking puny, there is a minor update to Jazz which will be shown with a styling refresh along with a fresh six-speed 128bhp engine.

There will also be the fresh CR-V, due to be launched later this year, which will aim to go after on from the last model in suggesting buyers a dependable, practical SUV. However, that is not it. Honda has been taunting its ‘Urban EV’ concept which will be also exposed to the world at Frankfurt.

    Hyundai

Frankfurt will be the very first public display of Hyundai’s hotly-tipped i30 N spectacle hatch. Our pre-production drive of the Seat Leon Cupra rival whetted our appetite for the finished car, and we’re expecting it to be a big crowd-pleaser this year. We’ll also see the fresh Kona petite SUV and i30 Fastback on the stands for the very first time.

    Jaguar

If you want to see the fresh Jaguar E-Pace SUV in the metal, your very first chance will be at Frankfurt. The baby brother to the F-Pace will go up against the BMW X1, Audi Q3, and JLR’s own Range Rover Evoque, and will be available to buy in early 2018.

As well as showcasing Kia’s current line-up, including the fresh Stinger coupe-cum-saloon, the Korean carmaker will use the Frankfurt display for the public debut of its fresh Stonic. The bold-looking puny SUV is going up against sister brand Hyundai’s Kona, plus the forthcoming SEAT Arona and fresh Nissan Juke.

Kia has announced that there will also be a fresh concept car at Frankfurt this year. While the name has not been exposed, Kia has said it will feature the design language that will be transferred on to the next generation of Kia Cee’d – potentially meaning there will be an estate version.

    Mercedes

    • Mercedes Project One Hypercar

    • Mercedes-AMG GT four-door concept

Mercedes hasn’t officially confirmed any Frankfurt debuts yet, but we’re almost certain there will be a few given it’s another home market brand.

One likely candidate is the next-generation G-Class 4×4 which has been seen out and about in disguise, while it’s possible we’ll see more production-ready version of the AMG GT four-door concept. It’s also rumoured that the brand is readying a 2nd all-electric concept badged under its fresh EQ sub-brand, which we could see in the metal at the demonstrate.

Merc’s concentrate won’t be all-electric, however – the brand is plotting to pull the covers off its long awaited, 1,000bhp Formula one engined hypercar at the Frankfurt meet, which is previewed by our off the hook picture above. You can also expect to see the X-Class pickup and a facelifted S-Class coupe.

MINI’s very first date with an EV is scheduled for Frankfurt. Dubbed as the ‘Mini Electrical Concept’, it a peek into what will become of the brand in the future. While you will have to wait until two thousand nineteen to get a finished one, likelihood is it will be based on BMW i3 running gear, suggesting toughly a one hundred ninety mile range and a 0-62mph time of 7.Five seconds.

    Porsche

Another German marque to join the ranks of those attending this year. Its headline act being the fresh Porsche Cayenne. The SUV which was largely looked down upon by purists when launched originally, can take a fair share of the credit for making Porsche the world’s most profitable car company.

    Renault

Renault will come up with the goods for hot hatch fans at this year’s demonstrate with an all-new Renaultsport tweaked Megane, following a long teaser campaign. It will have around 300bhp, while four-wheel steering has also been confirmed. A series of leaked patent renders have all but exposed the design, so it’s spectacle figures and total specifications we’re looking forward to.

We’ve already seen SEAT’s fresh Arona – a rival for a clutch of fresh puny crossovers such as the Citroen C3 Aircross, Kia Stonic and Hyundai Kona – but Frankfurt will be the fresh B-segment SUV’s public debut. It’s the 2nd car in what will be a three-strong SUV line-up from the Spanish brand, sitting underneath the Ateca and the as-yet unnamed seven-seater. We won’t be treated to a expose of SEAT’s largest SUV at the showcase, but a shortlist of potential names will be released.

    Skoda

The Karoq, which is set to substitute the Yeti, will be on display. Perhaps more titillating is the Concept E that will be making an appearance in Frankfurt.

The Concept E is a sign Skoda is making strides into the world of EVs. Skoda claims it will have a range of approximately 310miles and can be charged up to 80% inductively in just thirty minutes.

    Subaru

The latest Subaru Impreza was introduced at the Fresh York Motor Showcase back in 2016, and at the time Subaru bosses were coy regarding the car’s chances of making it to Europe. However, fifteen months on from its initial debut the hard has confirmed it plans to launch here, and we’ll see a European spec fresh Impreza this September.

    Suzuki

Hot hatch fans have the all-new Suzuki Swift Sport to look forward to at the Frankfurt showcase, and Suzuki has exposed a handfful of pics of its fresh pocket rocket ahead of utter details coming at the display. We expect a turbocharged 1.4-litre Boosterjet engine to provide 138bhp, while a sub 900kg curb weight means that the Swift Sport should be light on its toes.

    Vauxhall/Opel

    • Vauxhall Grandland X

Vauxhall is readying its fresh SEAT Ateca and Volkswagen Tiguan fighter for its very first public appearance, however it’ll be wearing Opel badges rather than the Vauxhall griffin in Frankfurt. We’ve already seen slew of pictures, and Vauxhall has even exposed UK prices and specs on its website, but this will be our very first glance at the Grandland X in the metal, and the very first chance to gauge it up close.

Also in attendance will be the Insignia GSi, with Vauxhall having ditched the VXR name in favour of reviving the GSi badge last used back in 2002. Under the bonnet lies a turbocharged Two.0 litre four-cylinder producing 257hp. A Sports tourer should be exposed shortly, too.

    Volkswagen

The all-new sixth-generation Volkswagen Polo will be shown in the metal, in public, for the very first time in Frankfurt this year. Sitting on the Volkswagen Group’s fresh MQB A0 platform for puny cars it has grown in size considerably, and a hot, 197bhp GTI badged version will also emerge alongside it.

Volkswagen will also debut the all-new T-Roc at Frankfurt. It’s an Audi Q2-based crossover appealing to the expanding pool of petite crossover customers. Expect engines similar to those in the Q2, including the 1.0 TSI, 1.Four TSI and 1.6 TDI.
