Zipcar Introduces Car Sharing Program in Collingswood, NJ CAMBRIDGE, Mass. , Sept. 29, two thousand eleven /PRNewswire/ — Zipcar, Inc. Around seventy vintage cars from the year one thousand nine hundred forty nine or older, will be making their presence known in the Cody area Aug. 14-19.
For the Vintage Motor Car Club of America’s National Heritage Tour 2017, the group determined to spend the week in Cody, planning their visit around Yellowstone National Park.
“Typically in a Heritage Tour we have a theme of a president,” Vice-Tour Director Brian Edgerton said. “Our tour is going to be about Theodore Roosevelt and Ulysses Grant and some of the presidents that commenced the National Park Service.”
The 100th anniversary of Buffalo Bill’s death was also a contributing factor in making the decision to plan a tour to Cody.
“We’re celebrating his memory because he was an iconic figure of the West,” Edgerton said.
The VMCCA has been planning this tour for over two years and Edgerton said the week will be jam packed with events.
“It’s going to be fairly noticeable in Cody,” Edgerton said.
The tour will kick off Monday with a social hour at the Holiday Inn from Five:30-6:30 p.m., with a banquet following from 6:30-9 p.m. Mayor Matt Hall will be present and Cody resident Bob Richard will be speaking to open the week’s events.
On Tuesday, the group will travel to Yellowstone with their vintage cars.
“They will be driving their 100-year-old cars up Sylvan Pass,” Edgerton said.
The tour will have a detect Cody day Wednesday and will end the week by participating in Wings N’ Wheels in Powell on Saturday.
Following the event in Powell, the group will caravan back to Cody and then proceed to parade their cars down Sheridan Avenue.
Edgerton said an significant aspect of their club is doing more with their restored vehicles than just letting them sit in a garage.
“We don’t just like to showcase them, we like to drive them all over the country,” he said.
