Petrol and diesel BAN – Why you only have months to claim £4,500 grant in UK

The announcement was made as part of a plan to reduce the amount of dangerous gasses emitted by vehicles.

As a result of the upcoming ban, millions of UK motorists will be coerced to switch to vehicles powered by alternative and sustainable fuels.

This could be a costly budge – especially since the Conservative Government has only committed to provide a grant for any driver buying one of these cars until March 2018.

British motorists who buy an electrical vehicle in the UK at the moment can benefit from up to £Four,500 towards their low-emissions vehicle.

Electrical car customers receive up to £Four,500, while hybrid buyers receive a £Two,500 contribution towards the car.

Motorists can also apply for a £500 grant to have a charging point installed at their home.

This scheme helps to address the lack of charge points across the UK.

«The industry will proceed to invest but it needs continued government support. A big obstacle is infrastructure.»

BVRLA Chief Executive Gerry Keaney said:«There will now be a fat concentrate on the government`s strategy for a pathway to zero emission transport for all road vehicles, due for publication by March 2018.

«With so many unanswered questions about charging infrastructure, grid capacity and the affordability and availability of electrical vehicles, we need a clearer roadmap on the government`s two thousand forty vision.»

This goes after the Government`s muffle over a diesel scrappage scheme.

The scheme was rumoured to be announced this week and would suggest motorists a cash incentive of up to £Two,000 for their old vehicle to compensate them to switch to an electrified or hybrid.

This would mean that drivers would be getting no compensation towards getting rid of their old car and possibly no contribution to their fresh car with ministers potentially pulling the cork on the grant.
